Collection: Theissen, Paul

Paul Theissen was born on March 10, 1915, in Essen. From 1934 to 1936, he studied at the Folkwang School under Josef Urbach and subsequently worked as a graphic artist and illustrator, including for the Essen-based Bildgut publishing house, where he illustrated children's books. From 1942 onward, he lived as a freelance painter and graphic artist in Kleve. He was particularly fond of the Lower Rhine landscape, which he captured in numerous drawings, watercolors, and paintings. In addition to his artistic work, he also taught drawing and watercolor painting. Paul Theissen died in Kleve in 1994. His works are now represented in the collection of the Museum Kurhaus Kleve, among other institutions.
