Collection: Ebbers, Klaus
As a native of the Lower Rhine region, born in Beuys country, I believe: I do, therefore I am. For me, design means organizing, relating things so that they are self-evident and logical, self-explanatory. Design is a part of my life; it begins with preparing breakfast. Manual work and intellectual work belong together. Artists have always been important to me as a stimulus; artists have taught me that the process is essential.
Trained as a carpenter, it was personal encounters and intensive engagement with artists, especially Jerry Zeniuk, Adrian Schiess, Norbert Prangenberg, the Düsseldorf Academy, and the legacy of Joseph Beuys, that shaped me. Through studying their and other artists' works, curating, exhibiting, and publishing art, my path inevitably led me to designing my own furniture objects.
